Guttering and soffits

Gutters, downpipes, fascias and soffits are the edge of the roof. When they crack, overflow or rot, water runs down the wall instead of away from it. Tradex replaces them as their own job, and often while a roof is already scaffolded.

What this page covers

Leaking joints, gutters full of moss and silt, fascias that have gone soft, and soffits that need replacing so the eaves can breathe again. The material is chosen when Jamie has seen the eaves.

This site has no close photograph that is only of a gutter. Roof photographs in the gallery show the eaves of houses where that work sits. They are labelled as roofing photographs.

Related roof work

Overflowing gutters and moss on the tiles often arrive together. A gutter that soaks a chimney apron belongs with chimney repairs and roof repairs. Wider upkeep of the building is property maintenance.

Visits from the Isleham base cover Ely, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds.

What to tell Jamie

A phone photo of the eaves is usually enough to start.

  • Which elevation overflows, and in which weather
  • Whether the fascia is timber or plastic
  • Staining on the wall, or damp inside at ceiling level
  • How many storeys, and whether there is a conservatory underneath

Questions people ask

Do you replace fascias and soffits as well as gutters?

Yes. This page is the guttering, fascia and soffit work. If the tiles above also need attention, that is quoted with the roof repair or new roof.

Can gutters be done at the same time as a new roof?

Often, yes, because the access is already there. Mention it when you ask for a quotation.
